Severe quake could deal harshly with Waverley

CD Severe quake could deal harshly with Waverley

"WAVERLEY may not experience a severe earthquake again for thousands of years – but being on a fault line means the effects could be severe when it does.

A northeast-southwest trending fault line runs through the southeastern part of the town. South Taranaki District Council commissioned the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GNS) to do a study on this in 1995 and 1996 and the results were presented to residents in 1997."
