Bird-flu virus coming to NZ

The Bird Flu is coming to New Zealand, and the Mayor of Upper Hutt is not concerned.

No it is not an outbreak of the Virus, but stocks are coming to AgResearch's Wallaceville Animal Research Centre.

NZ's first satellite gets go-ahead to fly

New Zealands first (Commercial) Satellite has the go ahead for launch around 2010.

The communications satellite will make use of New Zealand's orbital slot, which is unused.

The approval paves the way for the possibility of better broadband and broadcasting capabilities. "The venture could mean increased capacity for broadband, broadcasting and civil and Government communications," Cunliffe said. Other potential benefits could include improved communications abilities for military and civil emergency agencies.
